Simple Regulated 12 Volt Supply

This circuit above uses a 13 volt zener diode, D2 which provides the voltage regulation. Aprroximately 0.7 Volts are dropped across the transistors b-e junction, leaving a higher current 12.3 Volt output supply. This circuit can supply loads of up to 500 mA. This circuit is also known as an amplified zener circuit.

Q3 BD679 NPN Transistor
L1 See Notes
Notes
1. L1 is a custom inductor wound with about 80 turns of 0.5mm magnet wire around a toroidal core with a 40mm outside diameter.

2. Different values of D3 can be used to get different output voltages from about 0.6V to around 30V. Note that at higher voltages the circuit might not perform as well and may not produce as much current. You may also need to use a larger C3 for higher voltages and/or higher currents.

3. You can use a larger value for C3 to provide better filtering.

4. The circuit will require about 2A from the 6V supply to provide the full 800mA at 12V.

Marlec 12 24 Volt Inverters Explained

Inverters

What is an Inverter and why would I want one?

An Inverter is a device that takes the power from your 12 Volt or 24 Volt DC battery and converts it to 230 Volt AC power to run your normal household appliances on. For instance you may want to run a T.V.and D.V.D. Player whilst at sea on your yacht.

How does an Inverter work?

An Inverter boosts your 12 Volt or 24 Volt DC power by “switching” it to create pulses of AC electricity. The "switching" is done by various electronic components such as mosfets. The frequency at which these operate the “switching” process determines how closely the electical current resembles mains AC.

What is the difference between a Pure Sinewave Inverter and a Modified Sinewave Inverter?

The end of the last answer is the key to this. A Pure Sinewave Inverter uses a greater frequency of “switching” along with filtering to achieve a very close approximation to mains AC electricity. The diagram shows what a pure sinewave should look like. Inverters achieve a similar shape in a series of small steps of on /off switches. Pure Sinewave Inverters achieve a greater match to this form than Modified Sinewave Inverters. Not surprisingly they are more expensive than Modified Sinewave Inverters. Link

12 to 28V Boost Regulator LM2585

This boost regulator is for those times when you have a 28v relay, but want to use it with a 12v source. The circuit is built around the National Semiconductor LM2585, and uses the energy stored in an inductor to boost the 12 to 28v. Output voltage can be varied by adjusting the ratio of resistor values on the feedback pin.

The voltage regulator circuit does it’s switching around 100 Khz, but generates no noise if SMT components are used. Output is good for about half an amp continuous, enough to power two or three large microwave relays. The board measures 1.5″x2″.

It is important to note at least these three cautions before powering up the board:

  • A short-circuit on the output will kill U1 and D1. Always use a 1 ohm 5w resistor, or a 2.5A fast fuse on the 12v input lead.
  • Do not omit the LED (D2); It provides a visual indicator of a properly operating boost condition, but more importantly, it also provides a minimum load for the output, preventing an output “spike” which will otherwise appear when the load is disconnected abruptly.
  • Keep the ratio of r2 and r3 to 22 or less to keep the output voltage within the ratings of C4 (C4 on my board is rated at 35wvdc). This ratio plus 1, multiplied times 1.25v, determines the output voltage.

12 Volt to 32 Volt CT converter DC to DC

12Volt
Kit that can change the normal 12v dc voltage from a car battery, battery bike 12V motor. With the current 7A. so this circuit is very suitable for power car amplifiers and sound systems that use simple 12V battery.

Kit converter is also equipped with inputs "SEND" to activate the circuit and also send this interchangeable inputs is connected to the Tape / cd / dvd player of your car. And input "send" is if the non-connected with an output of "send" player car you then connect it to +12 hrs on v from the battery / batteries The series is already in the test kit and has been functioning normally.

12 Volt Battery Guardian

Dont get caught with a flat battery; this easy-to-build schema can cut off the power to a 12V fridge or car stereo system if the battery voltages drops below critical level. Electric fridges in vans and 4WDs are a great idea but if you are not careful, they can severely discharge the battery and leave you stranded. Maybe the battery will end up with severe damage as well. The same problem applies if you have a big stereo system and you like to play it without the motor running.

Main features:
  • Cuts power to load (eg, fridge) when battery voltage drops below a preset level.
  • 10A rating.
  • Low power drain.
  • Chirping sound during cut-out.
  • Flashing LED indication during cut-out.
  • Automatically reconnects power when battery recharged.
Operation on 12V is fine when the motor is running and battery charge is maintained but if the fridge is allowed to run for too long when the motor is stopped, it can flatten the battery in a relatively short time. This is where the Battery Guardian comes into play. It monitors the battery voltage and disconnects power to the fridge before the battery becomes too flat to allow the engine to be started again.

12 Volt DC Power Suplly Adaptor

This series of images you can apply to make an adapter or power suplly with the output voltage (V DC output 12V). Power supply in the only protected by a capacitor as a safety if the power supply is connected to the load on the circuit.

So I recommend using 35V capacitor with a minimum specification. The security of power supply to power the more we can menggunakkan transistor TIP, but I have not discussed it. To the diode bridge can be compiled from the 4 then you solder the diode bridge rectifier into one or you can buy a bridge rectifier so that the comb-shaped (sideways) or the box. At least I would suggest using a diode bridge 1 Ampere, in a series of adapters, the bigger the better course of ampere diode current in the circuit. Diodes like toll roads, and current as a car passing by. The larger and the width of the existing highway, the faster the flow of runs and through the circuit.

For the circuit power supply 5 V, you can change the volt regulator on the type 7805 and 7905. This application applies equally in this series. For variations such as fuse or circuit switch on / off you can try it yourself.

6 to 12 Volt Power Supply Inverter

This inverter circuit can provide up to 800mA of 12V power from a 6V supply. For example, you could run 12V car accessories in a 6V (British?) car. The circuit is simple, about 75% efficient and quite useful. By changing just a few components, you can also modify it for different voltages.
